Colby-Sawyer College has announced the appointment of Shannon Sciria as the new Head Coach of the Men’s Basketball Program. A former player and assistant coach at the college, Sciria returns to lead the team with over a decade of coaching experience at both the collegiate and high school levels.
Most recently, Sciria served as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach and Career Advisor at New England College. During his time there, he helped guide the Pilgrims to a share of the NECC regular season championship in 2021-22 and a runner-up finish in 2022-23. Sciria played a key role in recruiting and developing the 2022-23 NECC Rookie of the Year, while also leading recruitment efforts both nationally and internationally.
Prior to his time at New England College, Sciria served as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Colby-Sawyer from 2018 to 2021. He briefly stepped in as Acting Head Coach during the summer of 2021. His return to the Chargers brings a wealth of program knowledge and renewed enthusiasm to help elevate Colby-Sawyer basketball within the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).

Sciria, a 2009 Colby-Sawyer graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a minor in Sociology, also holds a master’s degree in Sports Management and Leadership from Southern New Hampshire University. As a former student-athlete at Colby-Sawyer, he was a member of the 2008-09 team that finished with a 20-8 record and earned an ECAC Tournament berth.
