The nine-game suspension imposed on SMU Head Coach Larry Brown by the NCAA is officially over. Brown will return to action tonight when his 18th ranked Mustangs face Kent State in the semifinal of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic. In his absence, associate head coach Tim Jankovich led SMU to a perfect 9-0 record to start the season. The 75-year old Brown had spent the past 33 days in exile as he was not allowed any contact with his team. In addition to the suspension levied by the NCAA, SMU also was banned from post season play this season, and saw a reduction in scholarships.
After tonight, Brown’s Mustangs will face Penn State (8-3) or Colorado (10-1) on Wednesday in the final day of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic before opening up American Athletic Conference play on 12/19 at Tulsa.
