According to a report from ESPN’s Jeff Borzello, Old Dominion is expected to name Maryland assistant Mike Jones as their new head men’s basketball coach. Jones is a 1995 ODU grad, who scored over 1100 points and led the Monarchs to two NCAA tournaments. This season is his first on Kevin Willard’s staff at Maryland

PREP DIRT: Former Pitt assistant headed to South Kent
Former Pitt assistant coach Bill Barton will become the next head coach at New England prep school powerhouse South Kent School. He will replace Kelvin Jefferson who became an assistant at Old Dominion last week. Barton had been on Jamie Dixon’s staff for the past five seasons, and has also worked at Marshall and Duquesne.

Following up on a rumor that HoopDirt.com posted back on May 10th (ODU DIRT)… Old Dominion men’s basketball head coach Jeff Jones has named Kelvin Jefferson an assistant coach. Jefferson served an assistant coach under Jones at American University from 2001-05. “I am very excited to have Kelvin Jefferson join our coaching staff,” Jones said.

Following up on some “dirt” that I tweeted earlier today… HoopDirt.com can confirm that South Kent head coach Kelvin Jefferson will become an assistant on Jeff Jones’ staff at Old Dominion. Jefferson had previously been at DI assistant at Vermont, American (where he worked for Jones), Stony Brook, and Colgate. He has spent the past seven seasons
