Trent Angelucci Elevated to Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Southern Utah

Southern Utah Thunderbird head basketball coach Todd Simon has announced the promotion of Trent Angelucci to assistant coach after serving as a special assistant to the head coach during the 2016-17 campaign.

“Coach Angelucci has proven to be a valuable part of our program. His tireless work ethic, ability to teach the game, and genuine care for our student-athletes really stands out,” Simon said. “Expanding his role will allow him to impact our student athletes and our program even more.”

Angelucci’s duties last season included preparing and analyzing film edits for scouting purposes along with breaking down opponent’s offenses for trends or statistical analysis. Angelucci played a significant role in the Thunderbird’s first-round triple overtime victory over Montana State at the Big Sky Road to Reno Conference Tournament.

Before joining the Thunderbirds, Angelucci served as the Director of Basketball Operations at Eastern Kentucky University. At EKU, he was responsible for organizing all items pertaining to team travel, facility improvements and assisting with opponent scouting.

Prior to his time with the Colonels, Angelucci spent four years in the ACC as the video coordinator for Georgia Tech. He was responsible for breaking down every opponent’s offense, researching and completing statistical analysis reports, and developing and updating detailed recruiting schedules.

Angelucci began his career as an assistant coach for Transylvania University where he had on-court coaching, scouting and recruiting responsibilities.

Angelucci earned a bachelor’s degree in sport and entertainment management from the University of South Carolina in 2009.
