Clark University men’s basketball head coach Paul W. Phillips has announced the addition of Dan Viscariello as the new full-time assistant men’s basketball coach.

Viscariello comes to Clark after spending the last two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Boston College on Jim Christian’s staff.

With the Cougars, Viscariello will assist in all facets of the program, including recruiting, practice preparation and student-athlete development as well as additional administrative responsibilities in the department.

“We are thrilled to add someone of Dan’s caliber to our staff,” said Phillips, who is entering his 20th season at Clark in 2017-18. “I am certain that his ability to connect and build relationships as well as recruit and mentor the student-athletes we need will have an immediate impact on our program.”

Prior to joining the Eagles, Viscariello spent two seasons on the sidelines as an assistant coach at Salem State University. In that role, he assisted in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, player development and game preparation while overseeing operations for the Vikings’ summer camp.

Viscariello is deeply entrenched in the AAU circuit, spending time working as a staff assistant at ZeroGravity Basketball, where he helped host tournaments throughout New England and as the Director of Operations for Hoop Mountain, one of the premier basketball exposure camps in the country.

In addition to those responsibilities, Viscariello has served as the Operations Director for the Boston Amateur Basketball Club (BABC) one of the nation’s most decorated AAU programs.

As an undergraduate, Viscariello spent four years as a student assistant coach, while assisting with compliance efforts for student-athletes in the program.

Viscariello is also heavily involved in youth sports having served as an assistant coach in the Maynard Youth Football program as well as an assistant coach with the Central Massachusetts Youth Basketball League.

A 2013 graduate of Salem State with a bachelor’s degree in sport and movement science, Viscariello earned a master’s degree from Boston College in Leadership and Administration in 2016.

“I am extremely grateful to be named the new full time Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Clark University,” said Viscariello. “Growing up in Central Massachusetts and having been a part of the Clark High School Tournament, I know both Clark, and the city of Worcester have deep, rich basketball traditions, and I look forward to the work that lies ahead.”
