According to a report by the Winona Daily News, Winona State head basketball coach Todd Eisner will miss the beginning of the season due to a health issue. Eisner will have outpatient surgery today at the Mayo Clinic for an undisclosed issue that has deteriorated since practice started. Eisner told the Daily News, “I’ve been receiving treatment all summer and fall and it hasn’t been getting better. The last step in the process, which we were all hoping wasn’t going to happen, if it wasn’t fixed, was surgery.”
Assistant coach Zach Malvik has taken over in Eisner’s absence. He is a Winona State alum who has been on the Warriors staff for the past three seasons.
