Matt Lynch has joined the Youngstown State men’s basketball staff as Director of Operations. Lynch began his duties with the Penguins on Oct. 16.
As director of operations, his duties include overseeing all of the day-to-day operations, video and technology, team travel, academic support, community outreach, on-campus recruiting, serving as the summer camp liaison and supervising team managers.
Lynch came to YSU after spending the last two years as the women’s basketball video director at Miami (Ohio) from 2013-15.
At Miami, he managed the video editing and film breakdown and monitored the student-athletes’ progress towards graduation, was in charge of fundraising for the team, directed the annual golf outing, and was the director of the team shootout.
In addition, Lynch supervised the managers and male practice team, two groups that consists of over 30 Miami graduate and undergraduate students. He also handled marketing duties for the RedHawks and served as a social media coordinator, managing the teams Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat accounts.
During the summer of 2015, Lynch served as an interim assistant coach for the RedHawks. His responsibilities included recruiting, on-court coaching and working with both the guards and post players.
Prior to joining the RedHawks, Lynch served as a volunteer men’s basketball assistant coach at Ediboro from 2010-13.
Lynch graduated from Edinboro in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education, and earned a master’s degree in sports psychology from Miami in 2015.
