Harrison joins Rockhurst Basketball Staff

Sam Harrison is the newest member of the Rockhurst Men’s Basketball coaching staff. Harrison will serve as an assistant coach under new head coach Kyle Blackbourn.

Harrison was an assistant coach at Texas A&M International last season. He helped lead the Dustdevils to the 2024 Lone Star Conference Tournament for the first time in school history, while winning a school-record 13 conference games.

“We are thrilled to be able to add someone of Coach Harrison’s abilities to our program,” Blackbourn said. “Coach has an excellent playing and coaching background that includes being a part of three national championship teams. His experience and personality will make Rockhurst Basketball better. Our guys will love working with Coach Harrison.”

Prior to going to Texas A&M International, Harrison was on the coaching staffs at Central Wyoming College, Kansas Wesleyan University and Graceland University. He helped coach Graceland to the 2018 NAIA Division I National Championship.

A native of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Harrison has been a part of three national championship teams: two as a player at Rock Valley College in Illinois (NJCAA D3) and one as coach at Graceland University in Iowa (NAIA D1).

Harrison received his bachelor’s degree in business from Graceland University in 2018 and obtained his MBA from Kansas Wesleyan in 2020.
