Denver released the following brief statement on the status of head men’s basketball coach Jef Wilbrun:
University of Denver head men’s basketball coach Jeff Wulbrun will be on leave for the remainder of the 2024-25 season, Vice Chancellor for Athletics and Ritchie Center Operations Josh Berlo announced on Friday. Shammond Williams will serve as interim head coach.
Denver has its final bye this weekend before traveling to Kansas City next Thursday and closing the regular season against South Dakota State in Hamilton Gymnasium next Saturday. The 2025 Summit League Tournament begins Wednesday, March 5 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
No further details were made available.
Denver is currently 10-19 (4-10 Summit). Wulbrun has amassed a 53-74 (.417) record in his nearly four full seasons as the Pioneers head coach.
