Penny Hardaway will return next season as the head coach at University of Memphis, according to a Pete Thamel report. After meeting with school administrators, Hardaway presented a plan for the program that includes changes to the coaching staff and the addition of a general manager.

Hardaway just wrapped up his 8th season at Memphis, with the Tigers finishing 13–19 (8-10 American) this past year – program’s first losing season since 1999–2000. Despite the disappointing season, Hardaway has compiled a 167–87 record during his tenure and has led Memphis to three NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament appearances.
