Quinnipiac University Director of Athletics and Recreation Jack McDonald has announced that men’s basketball head coach Tom Moore will remain in Hamden for another five years after signing a contract extension through the 2017-18 season. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
"Tom runs his entire program in a first-class manner, and we’re delighted to extend his contract through the 2017-18 season," said McDonald. "The shared commitment by Tom and Quinnipiac University has resulted in a program that is admired for its accomplishments on and off the court. We are greatly appreciative of everything he has done to make our basketball program so successful."
In a program long defined by achievement, Moore in his six seasons at the helm of the Quinnipiac University men’s basketball program has placed his own imprint of success on Bobcat basketball. Under his dynamic stewardship, which includes three national postseason appearances and several individual accolades, Quinnipiac has established its place on a national stage.
"I am thrilled to sign another five-year contract extension to remain here at Quinnipiac University," said Moore. "I have received incredible support from our entire administration since the first day I arrived. President John Lahey, Vice President Mark Thompson, and Director of Athletics Jack McDonald have provided our program and student-athletes everything we have needed to be successful both on the court and in the classroom. I am both inspired and energized by this commitment to me as we transition into the MAAC conference in the years ahead."
Under Moore’s tutelage, the Bobcats made three straight national postseason appearances (NIT, CIT, and CBI) from 2010 to 2012. He was named the Jim Phelan Northeast Conference Coach of the Year in 2010, the CollegeInsider.com Northeast Conference Coach of the Year in 2009, and most recently selected to the New England Basketball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2013.
