San Diego State basketball coach Steve Fisher retired Monday after 18 years with the program, per Mark Zeigler of the San Diego Union-Tribune. Assistant Coach Brian Dutcher will be named as the program’s new head coach. According to the report, Fisher had one season remaining on a three-year extension that paid him just over $1 million per year. The contract has no penalty for retirement. Fisher’s squad finished 19-14 (9-9 Mountain West) this past season. A formal announcement is expected tomorrow. More on this one when it becomes official.
