A few things to start the week…
- The search is moving quickly to replace Josh Newman at DII Arkansas Fort Smith. Newman was named as the head coach at Texas Permian Basin last Wednesday. It sounds like on campus interviews will start as early as this week at UAFS. Names that I’ve heard are Lamar assistant coach Justin Bailey (a former UAFS assistant), Mercer assistant Jarred Merrill, and a current DII head coach in the GAC. More on this one as I hear it.
- The Asbury Park Press has confirmed that Monmouth assistant Duane Woodward will join the Seton Hall staff when Fred Hill is officiall off the books on 7/1. More on that move HERE.
- Zach Durkee, who spent last season as a graduate assistant at The Citadel, has been named as an assistant at DII Pfeiffer College (NC). Durkee played collegiately at Charleston Southern where he graduated from in 2017.
- Gregory Ackles, Jr. has been named as the head basketball coach at Vance-Granville Community College (NC). He had most recently served as the head coach at Southern Vance HS (NC).
- Last week, I mentioned that Rich Micallef was no longer the head coach at Brooklyn College (DIII DIRT). I can now confirm that he resigned in order become the head girls basketball coach at Northern Highlands HS (NJ) where will have the unique opportunity to coach his daughter.
