I can confirm multiple reports, including one from the Connecticut Post, that Fairfield assistant Patrick Sellers will be named as the new head basketball coach at Central Connecticut. The other finalists have been informed of the decision, and the official announcement is expected later this afternoon.
Sellers is a 1991 Central Connecticut alum, and served as team captain during his senior season. He has spent the past two years as an assistant at Fairfield, and also worked at UConn, Creighton, Hofstra, and Fairleigh Dickinson.
Sellers will replace Donyell Marshall, who stepped away after five seasons back in early March. This will also bring the longest D1 search of the off-season to an end.
More on this when it becomes official.
