HoopDirt.com can confirm a Baltimore Sun report that former Maryland standout Juan Dixon will become the next Head Basketball Coach at Coppin State. Dixon spent last season as the head women’s coach at the University of the District of Columbia.He will replace Michael Grant who was fired back in March.
The 2002 ACC Player of the Year, Dixon was selected 17th by the Wizards in the ’02 NBA Draft. He played in the league until 2009 and finished up his career overseas in 2011. Dixon also worked as a special assistant at Maryland under Mark Turgeon before heading to UDC.
An official announcement is expected with in the next 48 hours.
