Colorado College Men’s Basketball Adds Rob Burke as Assistant Coach

Head coach Jeff Conarroe completed the coaching staff for his first season in charge of the Colorado College men’s basketball program with the addition of assistant coach Rob Burke.

“I’m really excited to be able to join coach Conarroe on this journey in his first season at Colorado College,” Burke said. “I take great pride in the fact that coach trusts in my experience to help him build a championship culture and a championship program. I look forward to spending time at such a distinguished institution.”

Burke spent the last three seasons at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, including a stint as interim head coach during the latter half of the 2019-20 season. Burke joined the UNCW staff as director of basketball operations in 2017 and was promoted to assistant coach prior to the 2018-19 campaign.

“I’m ecstatic to add Rob to our staff,” Conarroe said. “I feel like this is another game changing moment for our program. Rob’s extensive experience and time as a head coach make him an ideal hire at any level of college basketball. He will really help our recruiting and help our program on the offensive end of the floor.”

Prior to his arrival at UNC Wilmington, Burke served as director of basketball operations at Georgia Southern University for two seasons. Before that, Burke spent five seasons as an assistant coach at The Citadel, where he recruited a pair of 1,000-point scorers.

After four seasons as an assistant coach at Limestone College (2000-02) and Campbell University (2002-04), Burke became head coach at Spartanburg Methodist College in 2004, where he posted a 112-67 record during his six seasons with the Pioneers.

Burke also spent the summer of 2008 at the Nike National Skills Academy, where he served as a pro staff skill development trainer.

“Rob is so much more than an experienced coach,” Conarroe said. “His work ethic is second to none and he truly cares and loves the student athletes who have played for him and has consistently made a demonstrated impact on their lives. Rob will help us set a standard of excellence and a championship expectation in this program. He will help take us to another level.”

Burke earned his bachelor’s degree in sports management from Chowan University.

He and his wife, Neily, have two daughters, Mina, 23, and Marissa, 13.
