A bunch of assistants on the move or rumored to be on the move…
- According to Inside Texas, Longhorns assistant Ulric Maligi will be joining Jerome Tang’s new staff at Kansas State. Last year was Maligi’s first at Texas, and was with Chris Beard for the previous two seasons at Texas Tech. He has also been an assistant at SMU, Houston, SFA, and UTA.
- It also sounds like North Texas assistant Jareem Dowling is in the mix to join Tang’s K-State staff. Dowling has been with Grant McCasland at UNT for the past four seasons, and was with him at Arkansas for one season before that.
- Another Texas assistant may be on the move…rumors swirling that Jerrance Howard may be involved in a spot on the Dennis Gates new staff at Missouri. He had been on Bill Self’s staff at Kansas for eight seasons before being hired at UT last spring.
- NC State’s Kevin Keatts has moved on assistant coaches Mike Summey and Roy Roberson. Summey had been on staff for the past two seasons, Roberson for the past four. No word yet on possible replacements.
- Georgetown’s Patrick Ewing is also shaking up his staff. It sounds like Robert Kirby and Akbar Waheed are out, and Louis Orr will move to a non-recruiting admin role. According to Casual Hoya, DMV native and former LSU assistant Kevin Nickleberry will be one of the replacements. He has also been the head coach at Howard and Hampton. No word yet on other names.
- I mentioned on Tuesday that I had heard former URI head coach David Cox’s name at Maryland. It now seems like a done deal that he will be joining Kevin Willard’s staff. The DMV native had spent the past eight years at URI – 4 as an assistant, and 4 as the head coach.
- Word on the street is that Florida assistants Akeem Miskdeen and Eric Pastrana will head to Georgia with Mike White. Both assistants joined the UF staff last spring.
- Sounds new Louisville head coach Kenny Payne may bring in a current Big 12 associate head coach. More on this one shortly.
- From earlier today – Indiana’s Mike Woodson fired assistant coach Dane Fife. More HERE
