Evan Eustachy Promoted to Director of Basketball Operations at UTEP

Coach Tim Floyd has finalized his UTEP Basketball staff with the announcement that Evan Eustachy has been promoted to Director of Basketball Operations.

“We have had numerous coaches’ sons who have all gone on to do tremendous things,” Floyd said. “I feel like [Evan] is as talented as any of them. He is the youngest guy at his position in the country. We feel like he is much older than his age given the fact that he grew up in the business.”

Eustachy was a basketball operations assistant with the Miners from 2014-16. He handles a number of behind-the-scenes and operational duties, including scouting, coordinating team travel and directing the team summer camps.

He also works with the coaching staff, support staff, compliance office, Miner Athlete Academic Center and facilities department to coordinate day-to-day functions and promotion of the program. He is responsible for the team’s equipment needs, oversees the program’s student manager team and assists with the coordination of the Miner Legends Program.

Eustachy came to El Paso after serving as a student assistant at Colorado State from 2012-14. He was also a basketball camp coordinating assistant at Iowa State during the summer of 2011.

The Ames, Iowa native received his Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts from Colorado State in 2016.

“Some of the previous coaches’ sons that we hired were Randy Bennett, Brad Iba, Scott Sanderson, Gib Arnold, Ken Deweese, Kermit Davis and Byron Walker,” Floyd said. “We have had just an unbelievable run with these guys and they have all gone on to do terrific things. Evan has been handling a lot of these responsibilities for the last two years and will continue to do a fine job for us.”

Eustachy’s father, Larry, was a former assistant coach to Tim Floyd at Idaho and is currently the head coach at Colorado State.
