Northwest Florida men’s basketball head coach Butch Pierre has announced that Charlie Hurd will be joining the Raiders coaching staff for the 2020-21 season.

“Charlie comes highly recommended and we’re excited to have him on board,” Northwest Florida head coach Butch Pierre said. “He’s very good in player development and recruiting. He’s a class act and will be a great addition to our program.”

Hurd comes to Niceville after spending last season at Cornerstone Christian School in San Antonio, Texas, where he served as an assistant coach.

Prior to his time at Cornerstone, Hurd spent two years as a graduate assistant for the VCU men’s basketball team helping lead the Rams to the NCAA Tournament in 2019. Hurd has also spent time as a skills instructor for John Lucas Enterprises and a coach for Houston Hoops travel team.

Hurd began his playing career at Tarleton State in Stephenville, Texas, before transferring to Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The Houston native led Tarleton State to the Lone Star Conference title in 2011.
