John Mullane Named Assistant Basketball Coach at Mt. Ida College

John Mullane will join the Mount Ida College men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach, aiding Head Coach Ben Davis in all aspects of the program for the 2016-17 season.

Before joining the staff, John attended Elmira College from 2012 to 2016 located in the Southern Tier of New York State. There he received his Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration. As a four year member of the Elmira College Soaring Eagles basketball team, John received Rookie of the Week honors his first season and Athlete of the Week honors the following seasons. As a senior he started in every game, providing a key source of rebounding and defense as an undersized center. Off the court, John was a Resident Assistant and the Intramural Sports Director.

Before attending Elmira, John attended King Philip Regional High School in Wrentham, Massachusetts from 2010 to 2012. He was a vital starting member of the Varsity basketball program and helped bring a losing program all the way to the Division 2 State Semi-finals. His senior season he received honors such as Unsung Hero team award, and Hockomock All-League. In his last season, John aided the team in setting a new school high record in games won. He was fortunate enough to play with now NBA rookie Jake Layman of the Portland Trailblazers.
