The Tennessee State men’s basketball program and head coach Brian “Penny” Collins announced the hiring of Joshua Bone as the Director of Operations.
“Joshua Bone is familiar with our culture, our players and our program as he was on staff last year as the video coordinator,” said Collins. “The addition of Bone will be seamless. His relationship with the players and our coaching staff is unmatched and we’re excited to add a guy of his caliber to enhance the student-athlete experience. I’m excited to add him and can’t wait for him to get back to work.”
“I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity with Coach Penny and the staff,” said Bone. “I understand the history of this program, being a Nashville kid, and know how much it means for Penny to bring this program to even greater heights. I’m eager to help develop these young guys on and off the court.”
After his year spent in video coordination with the Tigers, Bone went on to work on the professional level for Fundamental Sports Management as a consultant before returning as the Director of Operations.
The former University of Tennessee guard joined the TSU staff as video coordinator for the 2018-19 season with experience at a number of different levels.
Following his collegiate career, Bone played professionally for three seasons, including one in Germany. He went onto coach two seasons at Antioch High School in Tennessee and founded BFG Elite – an AAU Organization based out of Nashville.
A graduate of nearby Brentwood Academy, Bone began his collegiate career at Southern Illinois University, helping the Salukis reach the 2007 Sweet 16 as a freshman and leading the Salukis in three-point shooting as a sophomore.
Transferring to the University of Tennessee, Bone was part of two NCAA Tournament teams under Bruce Pearl. The Volunteers made the Elite Eight in 2010 and the Round of 64 in 2011 in Bone’s two seasons on the court in Knoxville.
Bone is married to Lutece Bone and has two daughters, Jersey and Jayce.
He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
