IUPUI rumor….

It sounds like IUPUI assistant Matt Whinrey has accepted a video spot with the Cleveland Cavaliers. I have two great sources who have confirmed this move. He joined the IUPUI staff in September 2010. Definitely a strange time to make a move, but with the lock-out over, the NBA teams are starting to hire.

WPU goes co-ed, hires MBB coach

William Peace University is in the process of going co-ed and has formally announced the hiring of Claude Shields as the the first men’s basketball coach in school history. Dallas Baptist head coach Blake Filckner won the 100th game of his career this past weekend as his squad defeated Ouachita Baptist. Kennesaw State rumor….

I’ve heard from multiple sources that Mike Smith is no longer on the staff at Kennesaw State. He was hired by new head coach Lewis Preston in June of this year after working as an assistant at Jacksonville State. I’m still trying to dig to find out what happened, but Smith is no longer listed

Wimberly resigns at Swarthmore

Lee Wimberly has resigned as Swarthmore College’s head men’s basketball coach, citing worsening health conditions. Joe Culley will take over the head coaching duties for the remainder of the season. Culley is in his 10th season as an assistant coach at Swarthmore. In 24+ seasons at Swarthmore, Wimberly has a career record of 184-417. A
