OFFICIAL: Krupinski Named Head Coach at St. Catharine (KY)

HoopDirt.com had this as a rumor last week.  It has now been made official – American International College (MA) assistant Joe Krupinski has been named as the head coach at St. Catharine College (KY).

Krupinski comes to St. Catharine from American International College (Springfield, Mass.) where he was an assistant for one year. Previous to that Krupinski was head coach for six years at Lyndon State College in Vermont. Krupinski has also been an assistant at St. Michael’s College, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Springfield College.
“Coach Krupinski brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position,” said St. Catharine athletic director Tom Bystrek. “He is very well respected in the coaching ranks but also among faculty and staff at the institutions where he has worked.”
The new Patriot mentor will inherit a team that was 11-18 last year (5-11 Mid-South Conference) under Coach Matt Taylor. Four seniors were lost to graduation but seven players, including three starters, are eligible to return.
“I am beyond excited to be named the next head coach of the Men’s Basketball program at St. Catharine” said Krupinski. “I want to thank President Huston, Dr. Gnadinger, Tom Bystrek and everyone on the search committee for selecting me to lead a program that has both enjoyed recent success and has tremendous potential for growth for the future, both on the court and in the classroom. I was truly impressed with the school and everyone with whom I visited during the interview process. I look forward to becoming part of the rich tradition of Kentucky basketball and developing a team in which the school, its students and the area community will take pride.”
