Portland State Basketball Coach Jase Coburn has named Alberto De La Torre as the Vikings’ new Director of Basketball Operations. De La Torre rounds out the staff for the first-year head coach.

Although he is new to the role, De La Torre is not new to Portland State Basketball. He has been a part of the program for the past three years. De La Torre began as a team manager in 2018, then moved to the role of graduate assistant this past season.

“Berto knows the program inside and out. He is an extremely hard-working and loyal member of our team. He has worked for this opportunity and I am excited for him and his new role. He has a bright future in college basketball,” said Coburn.

De La Torre will be responsible for team travel, equipment, facilities, film operation and team managers among other duties.

A native of Portland and David Douglas High School, De La Torre earned his degree from Portland State in 2020. He was a double major, getting degrees in Business Management Leadership and Human Resources.
