Some buzz from the weekend…. I listed the three finalists for the Alaska-Fairbanks job last week – Alaska-Anchorage coach WBB coach Tim Moser, former Western Oregon head coach Craig Stanger, and New Mexico State assistant Mick Durham (follow link for more info on each candidate: http://hoopdirt.com/blog/690aa2ee/alaska-fairbanks-finalists…). I also said that I heard that Moser was

HOT RUMOR: Durham to Alaska-Fairbanks

According to a great source, New Mexico State assistant Mick Durham has been offered the Alaska-Fairbanks job. It sounds like he just needs to sign a contract before the hiring is made official. Durham was the head coach at Montana State for 16 seasons before joining the staff at NMSU 3 seasons ago.

RUMOR: Hill to Northwestern

I’ve heard from multiple sources that former Rutgers head coach Fred Hill is set to be named as an assistant at Northwestern. Hill went 44-77 in his four seasons at the helm at Rutgers before resigning last spring. He would replace Mitch Henderson who became the head coach at Princeton earlier this spring. Northwestern is

Chambers to Penn State?

Multiple sources have told me that Boston University head coach Pat Chambers has been offered the Penn State job. He is apparently in the process of finalizing a contract. Over the past 24 hours, Duquesne’s Ron Everhart, and Milwaukee’s Rob Jeter have both "withdrawn" from consideration. This is usually a phenomenon we see when another

A couple things that I’ve heard at the end of the day…. Lots of rumors circulating about Penn State and Boston University head coach Pat Chambers. Some are reporting that it is a done deal with Chambers, but as of right now, I’ve heard that it is down to him and Milwaukee’s Rob Jeter. Duquesne’s

The search at Penn State is moving swiftly. Just to recap….East Carolina head coach Jeff Lebo and Drexel head coach Bruiser Flint have both said that they are not interested in the job. They were two early targets. Duquesne head coach Ron Everhart interviewed this week and I’ve heard that there will be at least

Here’s today’s "dirt"….. Cincinnati staffer Chris Shumate has accepted a spot on Steve Prohm’s staff at Murray State. Shumate has been at Cincinnati in operations roles for the past four seasons. He played at Murray State under current UC head coach Mick Cronin. It sounds like Kyle Cieplicki will return to Vermont to become an

Daily Dirt – 5/31/11

I hope you all had a great Memorial Day Weekend. I attended the wedding of the century – a ton of big-time coaches were there. None of us actually believed the guy that got married actually liked girls – we had to see this wedding with our own eyes to believe it! Anyway, here is

Daily Dirt – 5/27/11

A few things as we sail into the Memorial Day weekend…. The name that keeps coming up at Penn State today is Arizona State head coach Herb Sendek. Not sure if Penn State can get the money close however. The one thing that I can confirm here is that East Carolina head coach Jeff Lebo
