Settles named Interim Head Coach at IWC
Former Iowa standout Jess Settles has been named as the interim head coach at Iowa Wesleyan. He replaces Alan Magnani who was fired earlier this week (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/95fbecb7/magnani-fired-at-iowa-wesl…). Settles was the Big Ten Rookie of the Year his freshman season, and scored 1,611 points for the Hawkeyes. He has been an assistant at Southeastern Community College
Magnani fired at Iowa Wesleyan
Alan Magnani has been fired as the head coach at Iowa Wesleyan. He was the all-time winningest head coach in IWC history – over 240 wins in his 15+ seasons at the helm. Apparently he disagreed with IWC’s decision to become an NCAA DIII school – moving away from NAIA status. Magnani’s firing leaves IWC

BREAKING: Oklahoma State WBB coach killed in plane crash
Oklahoma State women’s head coach Kurt Budke and assistant coach Miranda Serna were killed in a plane crash last night. They were on a recruiting trip when their plane went down in Central Arkansas. East Central University (OK) has dismissed head coach Joe Redmond after just two games. According to a press release, East Central University is looking into possible NCAA violations in its athletic program tied to basketball recruiting. Redmond had just begun his second season at ECU. Texas A&M head coach Billy Kennedy returned to action last night. He was on the bench for A&M’s 83-58 victory over Southern. HOT RUMOR: Extension in the works for Tinkle
According to a few people close to the situation, Montana head coach Wayne Tinkle is close to signing a contract extension. I have heard that the deal would be for three additional years. The base salary would remain similar, but there will be more incentives that could help raise the monetary value of the deal.
Lavin returns to St. John’s bench

Jones suspended at UCF
