Some Twitter DM’s from Jerry Stackhouse to a Vanderbilt fan were released on Barstool Sports over the weekend. Crazy stuff where Stack tells a Vandy supporter that “his life must be miserable”, and calls him a “fake ass fan.” You can read the entire exchange HERE.


SMU played UCF on Saturday without head coach Tim Jankovich, who had negative COVID-19 testing but a low-grade fever on Friday. Assistant coach Jay Duncan also didn’t make the trip for SMU. Assistant Yaphett King handled active duties, along with newest assistant John Cooper. More HERE.


Arizona State head coach Bobby Hurley has been reprimanded by the Pac-12 Conference for public comments made about men’s basketball officiating. Hurley made comments to the media that called into question the officiating during Arizona State’s game against Arizona on Thursday, Jan. 21. More HERE. The wife of Wake Forest special assistant to the head coach Matt Woodley was arrested late last week on charges that she embezzled tens of thousands of dollars from Make-A-Wish Iowa, a charity that she once led, according to court documents. More HERE.


South Carolina assistant Chuck Martin is out of isolation after a battle with Covid. Head coach Frank Martin said, “I don’t want to speak for him, but Chuck got pretty beat up. It’s not like he’s been sitting around the house chomping at the bit because he feels good. Jerry C. Johnson, the legendary men’s basketball coach who led LeMoyne-Owen College to a historic Division III national championship in 1975, died Sunday in his sleep in Memphis. He was 102 years-old. Johnson won 821 games over 46 seasons at LeMoyne-Owen. He was the first Black basketball coach to win a Division III national title and LeMoyne-Owen became the first Historically Black College and University to accomplish the feat. More HERE.


Milestones:

  • LSU Shreveport head coach Kyle Blankenship won #200. He is now 200-70 during his tenure at LSUS. His team is 11-0, riding a 25-game winning streak dating back to last season, and have won 33 straight at home. More HERE.

  • Charlie Wilson won his 100th game at Indian River State College. Wilson is in his 6th season at IRSC where his squad has strung together three straight 20-win seasons, including two Southern Conference Championships.
