Really good article from the Washington Post on UC Riverside head coach Mike Magpayo (HoopDirt.com’s Week 2 Coach of the Week winner), who founded the Asian Coaches Association, and how he and others are advocating to advance the standing of Asian coaches in basketball. More HERE.


Siena men’s basketball coach Carmen Maciariello announced that he tested positive for COVID-19 and experienced symptoms that included fever, chills, back pain and headaches. In a radio interview yesterday, Maciarello said, “You know, it was tough for a couple days. It was backaches, constant headaches, night sweats. One morning I woke up, I felt I had run a marathon.” More HERE.


The Desert News takes a look at how Utah head coach Larry Krystkowiak became one of the highest-paid coaches in college basketball. They take a deep dive into Krystkowiak’s contract history, “which shows how much former Utah athletic director Chris Hill valued Krystkowiak’s mid-2010s success, and rewarded him handsomely for it.” More HERE.

D3 Pacific Lutheran University head Coach Chad Murray won his 100th career game with a 79-65 win over Puget Sound. Murray’s squad is now 4-0 (4-0 NWC) on the season.


There have been a lot of great tributes to scouting guru Tom Konchalski in the past few days since his passing. Here is 50 great minutes from Konchalski as he sits down with Rockaway Hoops hosts Ryan Patrick Woerner and Charles Marquardt this past November.

Alabama’s Nate Oats responded to three billboards that went up in Tuscaloosa this week criticizing the Alabama men’s basketball team after its loss at Missouri: “Shoot, I love the fact that the fans in Tuscaloosa are into basketball and they care enough to pay for billboards.” More HERE.
