The San José State men’s basketball program has added Joe Wallace as the director of basketball operations beginning the 2015-16 season. Spartans’ head coach Dave Wojcik made the announcement.
“I am pleased to announce the addition of Joe Wallace to our staff,” said Wojcik. “I worked with Joe at Tulsa and have seen first-hand how organized, disciplined, and energetic he is every day. Joe’s experience in operations, and as an assistant coach will be invaluable to our program moving forward.”
Wallace joins the Spartans after spending the 2013-14 season as an assistant coach at the College of Charleston. He was the director of basketball operations for one season prior to being promoted to an assistant coach for the Cougars.
As an assistant, Wallace organized on-campus recruiting trips, completed scouting reports of opponents and helped transition the program into its inaugural season into the Colonial Athletic Association.
Prior to his time at the College of Charleston, Wallace spent six seasons at the University of Tulsa. He was the director of player development and graduate manager from 2006 through 2009, before becoming the director of basketball operations from 2010 through 2012. With Wallace on staff, the Golden Hurricane were CBI champions in 2008 and twice played in the NIT postseason tournament in 2009 and 2010.
Wallace received his degree in social science education in 2005 from West Liberty University in West Liberty, W. Va., where he was a two-year football letterwinner.
