Some weekend dirt…. Miami-Dade College has promoted assistant coach Stephen Cowherd to the position of head coach. This was a long search process, but apparently the decision to hire Cowherd came a few weeks ago. He had spent one season as an assistant at MDC, and was a graduate assistant at Florida State before that.

Maryville (TN) adds assistants
Former Maryville College basketball standouts Alex Bowers and Raul Placeres are returning to their alma mater as assistant coaches. Bowers will be hired as the full-time assistant coach and Placeres will be the part-time assistant. Bowers in a 2008 graduate and this will be his first college gig.
