Jimmy Smith, the men’s basketball coach who led Texas Lutheran University to back-to-back conference titles and consecutive NCAA Division III national tournament appearances, announced his resignation Friday as the Bulldogs’ head coach. Smith has accepted an assistant coach position with Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas and will join the Bearkat staff in July.
