These coaches are now eligible to receive the HoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award presented by Just Play Solutions which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2022-23 college basketball season.
This is the eighth season that HoopDirt.com has run the Coach of the Week and Coach of the Year programs. The list of 2022-23 Coach of the Week winners, as well as the list of all-time COY winners can be found following this week’s honorees.

NCAA D1: Jerome Tang – Kansas State

Highlights: Wildcats hit a jumper with 4.7 seconds left to beat LSU and win the Cayman Islands Classic. K-State moved to 6-0 to start a season for the first time since 2018-19 and won first in-season tournament since 2018. |
NCAA D2: Brooks McKowen – Upper Iowa University

Highlights: Trailed Winona State by 16 at the half on Tuesday – hit a buzzer beater for the win. Won both games in the Bahama House Shootout – made 15 3’s in the tourney opener vs. Wingate. |
NCAA D3: John Krikorian – Christopher Newport University
Weekly record (overall): 3-0 (7-0) |
Past week’s results: 82-59 W vs Methodist, 87-52 W vs Sarah Lawrence, 79-71 W vs North Carolina Wesleyan. |
Highlights: The number 4 ranked team in the country won 3 more games this week to remain undefeated. They ended the week by capturing the Holiday Inn Invitational title. |
NAIA: Chase Teichmann – Florida College
Weekly record (overall): 3-0 (10-1) |
Past week’s results: 79-71 W vs Missouri Baptist, 68-67 W vs #10 LSU Shreveport, 92-65 W vs RV Loyola (NO). |
Highlights: The #21 Falcons won all 3 games at the Battle at the Beach. In addition to beating Missouri Baptist, they knocked off #10 LSUS, and ended defending National Champion Loyola’s 28-game win streak. FC becomes first NAIA team to 10-wins this season. |
JUCO: Brad Witherspoon – Dodge City Community College

Past week’s results: 111-100 (OT) W vs #6 Coffeyville, 90-81 W vs Seward |
Highlights: Witherspoon’s #22 squad clipped #6 Coffeyville in OT on Wednesday. They then handed Seward their first loss of the season on Saturday. The Conqs have now won 7 in a row, and are 3-0 in the KJCCC. |
