For Immediate Release
April 1, 2020 – Boston, MA

Yeshiva University Head Men’s Basketball Coach Elliot Steinmetz has been named as the HoopDirt.com NCAA D3 Coach of the Year presented by Just Play Solutions for the 2019-20 college basketball season. Steinmetz qualified for the award by being named as the HoopDirt.com/Just Play Solutions Coach of the Week for Week 12 of the season.

Coach Steinmetz guided Yeshiva University to the best season in program history this year. After dropping the season opener, the Maccabees didn’t lose another game, finishing the campaign at an NCAA DIII best 29-1 and reaching many milestones on the way.

On January 27, Coach Steinmetz’s squad earned their first national ranking in school history, coming in at No. 24 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll. By the end of the season, the Maccabees had reached the No. 8 spot in the poll. Yeshiva picked up its first two NCAA Tournament wins ever this year, reaching the Sweet 16 before the season was cut short.

Coach Steinmetz, in his sixth year at the helm of Yeshiva, picked up multiple awards for his efforts during the season. He was named the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year as well as the Atlantic Region Coach of the Year. On March 24, he was honored with the D3hoops.com NCAA Division III Coach of the Year award. Most recently, Steinmetz was the recipient of the Glenn Robinson National Coach of the Year award.
