WEEK 9: HoopDirt.com Coach of the Week presented by Just Play Solutions

Congratulations to the following coaches who have been selected as the Week 9 HoopDirt.com Coach of the Week presented by Just Play Solutions. These coaches are now eligible to receive the HoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award presented by Just Play Solutions which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2022-23 college basketball season.

This is the eighth season that HoopDirt.com has run the Coach of the Week and Coach of the Year programs. The list of 2022-23 Coach of the Week winners, as well as the list of all-time COY winners can be found following this week’s honorees.

The Week 9 winners are:


NCAA D1: Bart Lundy – Milwaukee

Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (11-5)
Past week’s results: 68-64 (OT) W at Cleveland State, 74-70 W at Purdue Ft. Wayne
Highlights: Two big Horizon League wins on the road, including an OT win at Cleveland St. where the Panthers knocked down a 3 with 1.3 left to send it to the extra period. 11 wins on the season eclipse last seasons 10 wins for first-year head coach Lundy. Milwaukee is now in first place in the league for first time since 2012, and off to best conference start since 2011-12.

NCAA D2: Jeremiah Samarrippas – Lincoln Memorial University

Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (15-1)
Past week’s results: 94-69 W at UVA Wise, 84-76 W vs Carson-Newman.
Highlights: With 2 more wins this past week, Samarrippas’ squad has run their winning streak to 14 games. They are currently ranked #6 in the NABC D2 poll, 6-0 in the SAC, and 9-0 at home. They also own the longest D2 home winning streak in the country with 53 wins in a row.

NCAA D3: Waleed Farid  – Ithaca College

Weekly record (overall): 3-0 (7-4)
Past week’s results: 59-57 W vs Hamilton, 64-53 W at #19 RPI, 75-74 W at Hobart.
Highlights: What a week for Farid and his Bombers. Their buzzer beater vs Hamilton on Monday was the SC Top 10 Play of the Day (HERE), they beat the #19 team in the country on the road on Friday, and then knocked down a jumper with :15 sec left to beat Hobart by 1 on Saturday.

NAIA: Brandon McGruder – Mayville State

Weekly record (overall): 2-0 (13-3)
Past week’s results: 93-64 W at Waldorf, 101-82 W at Viterbo.
Highlights: McGruder, the interim head coach at Mayville State, is making a strong push to keep the job on a permanent basis after 2 more wins last week. His 13-3 Comets are currently leading the NAIA in scoring (101.8ppg), on an 8-game winning streak, and sit alone atop the NSAA standings at 3-0.

JUCO: Jeff Reinert – College of Southern Idaho

Weekly record (overall): 3-0 (19-0)
Past week’s results: 80-56 W at Treasure Valley, 101-64 W vs Snow, 112-62 W vs Colorado Northwestern.
Highlights: Another 3-win week for Reinert’s squad runs their winning streak to 19 to start the season. They are also a perfect 7-0 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference, and outscoring their opponents on the season 93.3 to 57.5 (35.8 margin of victory).
