WEEK 12: HoopDirt.com Coach of the Week presented by Just Play Solutions

Congratulations to the following coaches who have been selected as the Week 12 HoopDirt.com Coach of the Week presented by Just Play Solutions. These coaches are now eligible to receive the HoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award presented by Just Play Solutions which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2022-23 college basketball season.

This is the eighth season that HoopDirt.com has run the Coach of the Week and Coach of the Year programs. The list of 2022-23 Coach of the Week winners, as well as the list of all-time COY winners can be found following this week’s honorees.

The Week 12 winners are:


NCAA D1: Dusty May – Florida Atlantic University

Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (21-1)
Past week’s results: 85-67 W vs Middle Tennessee, 70-63 W vs Western Kentucky
Highlights: Two more wins last week for May’s #21 Owls have pushed their winning streak to 20 – the longest D1 MBB streak in the nation. FAU now stands at 21-1 on the season and are undefeated at 11-0 in Conference USA. The Owls also tied the FAU school record for wins in a season with 21, which was set in 2010-11.

NCAA D2: Bob Pietrack – Fort Lewis College

Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (18-2)
Past week’s results: 93-87 W at #5 Colorado Mines, 77-76 W at MSU Denver
Highlights: Pietrack led his #17 Skyhawks to two big-time wins on the road last week. On Friday, they downed #5 Colorado Mines – their first road win over a top-ten opponent in program history. FLC turned around the next day and beat MSU Denver by one, as they knocked down 2 FT’s with 1.5 seconds left to secure the win.

NCAA D3: Pat Juckem – Washington University in St. Louis

Weekly record (overall): 2-0 (14-4)
Past week’s results: 63-47 W at #11 Rochester, 72-69 W at #16 Emory
Highlights: WashU defeated two nationally ranked opponents on the road this past weekend to move into a first-place tie in the UAA. Defensively, the Bears held their opponents to 13% (5-36) from three on the weekend, and held Rochester to their lowest point total since 2015.

NAIA: Kory Alford – Huntington University

Weekly record (overall): 2-0 (17-6)
Past week’s results: 60-59 W vs #7 Indiana Wesleyan, 88-74 W vs Bethel
Highlights: Huntington’s win vs #7 IWU was their second straight vs a top-ten opponent (they beat #6 Grace in their previous game last Saturday). In the IWU victory, Alford’s squad knocked down a 3 with 5 seconds left for the win. They have now won 4 in a row, and have pushed their home record to 11-2.

JUCO: Nick Wade – Lee College

Weekly record (overall): 2-0 (19-3)
Past week’s results: 82-77 W vs Blinn, 58-53 W at Angelina
Highlights: Wade has Lee rolling – they have now won 14 in a row, are 11-0 in Region 14, and 9-0 at home on the season. Wade is now 46-9 since taking over at Lee prior to last season.
