WEEK 14: HoopDirt.com Coach of the Week presented by Just Play Solutions

Congratulations to the following coaches who have been selected as the Week 14 HoopDirt.com Coach of the Week presented by Just Play Solutions. These coaches are now eligible to receive the HoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award presented by Just Play Solutions which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2022-23 college basketball season.

This is the eighth season that HoopDirt.com has run the Coach of the Week and Coach of the Year programs. The list of 2022-23 Coach of the Week winners, as well as the list of all-time COY winners can be found following this week’s honorees.

The Week 14 winners are:

NCAA D1: Chris Collins – Northwestern University

Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (18-7)
Past week’s results: 69-63 W at Ohio State, 64-58 W vs #1 Purdue
Highlights: The Wildcats opened the week with a win on the road at Ohio State – the 150th career win for Collins. Their victory vs Purdue on Sunday was the first win vs the #1 team in the country in program history. NU is now 3-1 vs ranked opponents this season.

NCAA D2: Dean Johnson – Caldwell University

Weekly Record (Overall): 2-0 (17-7)
Past week’s results: 78-71 W at Bridgeport, 97-95 W (OT) vs Thomas Jefferson U
Highlights: Johnson and his squad are now winners of nine in a row, and sit atop the North Division of the CACC with a 13-2 record. In Saturday’s OT win vs TJU, Caldwell went the length of the court with 2.4 seconds remaining to score and send the game to the extra frame.

NCAA D3: Todd McGuinness – Case Western Reserve University

Weekly record (overall): 2-0 (18-3)
Past week’s results: 90-87 OT W vs (RV) Rochester, 102-75 W vs #24 Emory
Highlights: Two wins for CWRU last week have put them into a tie for first place in the UAA. They have now won a program record 6 straight UAA games. With the win vs Emory, the Spartans have matched the program record for most UAA victories in a season and most regular season wins in a campaign.

NAIA: Eric Strothers – Tougaloo College

Weekly record (overall): 3-0 (25-1)
Past week’s results: 90-75 W vs Oakwood, 85-72 W vs Southern U New Orleans, 81-70 W at Wiley
Highlights: Three more wins last week run Tougaloo’s win streak to 13. They also hold a three game lead in the GSAC standings (13-0), and are a perfect 10-0 at home on the season.

JUCO: Josh Mills – Dallas College – North Lake

Weekly record (overall): 3-0 (19-6)
Past week’s results: 77-69 vs #8 Dallas Eastfield, 95-64 W at Dallas Cedar Valley, 100-69 W at Dallas Mountain View
Highlights: The #2 NJCAA D3 team in the country extended their winning streak to 15 games last week, beating #8 Eastfield along the way. Mills’ squad is also 6-0 in their conference, and hold a 12-0 home mark.
