These coaches are now eligible to receive the HoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award presented by Just Play Solutions which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2022-23 college basketball season.
This is the eighth season that HoopDirt.com has run the Coach of the Week and Coach of the Year programs. The list of 2022-23 Coach of the Week winners, as well as the list of all-time COY winners can be found following this week’s honorees.

NCAA D1: Shaka Smart – Marquette University

Highlights: Smart’s #10 Golden Eagles opened the week with their second straight win vs a top-20 opponent as they knocked off Creighton on the road. With their victory vs DePaul on Saturday, MU clinched a share of the Big East regular season title – their first since 2012-13. |
NCAA D2: Shane Paben – Chadron State College

Highlights: With 2 wins last week, Paben’s crew has now Won 10 out of their last 11 to end the regular season. The win vs #10 Black Hills was CSC’s first over a nationally ranked team in 23 years. |
NCAA D3: Mitch Oliver – Albertus Magnus College
Weekly record (overall): 3-0 (19-9) |
Past week’s results: 128-74 W vs Colby-Sawyer, 75-71 W at Emmanuel, 83-79 W at #1 USJ |
Highlights: Oliver’s Falcons ripped through the GNAC tournament and defeated the #1 team in the country to capture the title on Sunday. AMC opened the tournament by hanging 128 on Colby-Sawyer on Tuesday. They then traveled to Emmanuel (#1 seed in the North) where they won to advance to their 11th straight GNAC Championship. They win vs USJ in the title game snapped the Bluejays streak of 27 straight wins. |
NAIA: Jordan Ashton – Iowa Wesleyan University

Highlights: Ashton’s IWU squad captured the CAC Conference Tournament Championships with 3 wins last week in Kansas. With the win vs #14 Florida College (the top seed in the tourney), the Tigers qualified for the NAIA national tournament for the first time since 2011. |
JUCO: Dajuan Gouard – Danville Area CC

Highlights: DACC knocked off South Suburban – the #5 NJCAA D2 team in the country to open the week, then pulled out a close one on the road on Saturday at John Wood. Gouard’s squad has now won 7 in a row and have moved up to the #4 spot in the latest poll. |
