Nova Southeastern University Head Men’s Basketball Coach Jim Crutchfield has been named as the HoopDirt.com NCAA D2 Coach of the Year presented by Just Play Solutions for the 2022-23 college basketball season. Crutchfield qualified for this award by earning the HoopDirt.com / Just Play Solutions Coach of the Week for Week 15 of the season.
A perfect 36-0 season for Crutchfield culminated in capturing the 2022-23 NCAA D2 National Championship back on March 25th. This was the first national title in NSU men’s basketball history.
Crutchfield’s NSU squad ran through the competition all season long, as they led the nation in scoring (102.5ppg), and had an average margin of victory of 25.7. The also went 21-0 at home, and had an unblemished 20-0 record in the Sunshine State Conference.
After capturing both the conference regular season and tournament championships, Crutchfield was named as the SSC Coach of the Year. This is also the second straight season in which Crutchfield earned HoopDirt.com / Just Play Solutions NCAA D2 Coach of the Year honors. He received the award last year after leading the Sharks to a 31-1 record, and the SSC Championship. Over the past two seasons, Crutchfield has amassed a 67-1 (40-0 SSC) record.
